AHUSADEC’s Role in the Fight Against Human Trafficking in Eastern DRC

Provides :

1. Humanitarian assistance in food and clothing for victims and survivors of human trafficking, in particular women and children;

2. Health assistance for victims of human trafficking, in particular women and children;

3. Psychological assistance and legal assistance for victims and survivors of human trafficking, in particular women and children;

4.Prevention, lobby, advocacy and research against the commercial and economic sex trafficking of children and the forced labor of children as easy and cheap labor;

5. Monitoring of human trafficking cases, in particular victims and survivors (women and children);

6. Community mobilization against child trafficking for sexual and economic exploitation and forced child labor in artisanal mining areas and in quarries for the extraction of construction materials.

AHUSADEC participated at the 10th session of the COP to the UNTOC from October 12 to 16, 2020 in Vienna, Austria. On the sidelines of this meeting, The UN Voluntary Trust Fund for Victims of Trafficking in Persons (UNVTF) presented the Achievements and Best Practices carried out during the 10 years. AHUSADEC as an NGO partner of UNODC / UNVTF was invited and presented the achievements and challenges to victims assistance in DRC and how the Trust Fund grant has helped the work of the organization through the project to support the fight against trafficking underage girls for sexual exploitation in conflict zones and artisanal mineral extraction in eastern DRC.

AHUSADEC plays a key role in the fight against modern forms of slavery including sex trafficking and child labor in artisanal mines and conflict zones in the eastern part of the DRC.
AHUSADEC volunteered committed to adhere to the UNTOC to monitor the implementation of the Convention, advocate compliance with the Additional Protocol to the UN Convention against Transnational Organized Crime to Prevent, Suppress and Punish Trafficking in persons, especially women and children.
