Impact Stories

Since Maat is based in the MENA region and Africa, Maat cooperates with other organizations in the region, organizations in conflict areas, on combating terrorism and violent extremism, human trafficking, migrations, and with a focus on the armed conflict regions, besides reporting to the UN special procedures. Maat is an active participant in informal consultations to draft resolutions on combating human trafficking as the best usage of the UN consultative status. Maat was the only Egyptian and Arab organization that participated in the first drafting resolution on the clean and healthy environment as human rights and supported the special rapporteur on climate change. as part of Alliance 8.7, Maat exerts effort to put pressure and lobby the Egyptian government to join on-ground activities to end child labor in Egypt.

Organization's mission

Maat seeks to employ the human rights approach and use its mechanisms and tools to promote the values and practices of social peace, development, democracy, and good governance, and to work through international and regional mechanisms and bodies and within a framework of networks and alliances to advocate and mobilize support for the promotion of peace and sustainable development practices and policies and combating all forms of violence, conflict and the absence of justice.
