At the Love Foundation, we address transnational organized crime through initiatives like our Better Brothers Initiative Program, which tackles gender-based violence and empowers men and boys as advocates for positive change. Recognizing that gender-based violence and organized crime are often intertwined, our program works to reduce violence against women and girls, creating safer communities that are less susceptible to criminal networks. Through workshops, mentoring, and outreach, we equip young men with the skills to advocate for respect and equality, breaking cycles of violence that criminal organizations can exploit.
A recent accomplishment in this effort is our Standard Operating Manual for Community Inclusion, distributed in marginalized communities. This manual offers guidance on including women and girls in local decision-making, strengthening their roles in community safety and resilience. By empowering women to participate in community leadership, we foster environments less vulnerable to criminal exploitation.
Through awareness campaigns, we challenge harmful norms and promote positive behavior among men and boys, fostering safe, supportive environments. By addressing violence at its roots and strengthening community bonds, we reduce the footholds organized crime can gain in vulnerable areas. The Better Brothers Initiative Program is a critical part of this work, driving change toward a Belize built on safety, inclusion, and shared responsibility.
