Addressing the needs of victims and survivors of Torture in South Sudan:
The Dialogue and Research Institute (DRI) is a South Sudanese national organization which is supporting victims and survivors of torture. These victims and survivors who suffered cruel torture at the hands of security, armed forces, and political actors are served through the UN Torture Grant.
DRI is providing a follow-up of pending legal services and immediate and medium-term protection to victims of torture in times of conflict and political restriction. At a critical time, DRI leads advocacies in the national Parliament and subnational national legislative Assemblies to prevent torture and deter impunity among political and arms structures through the implementation of the Convention Against Torture (CAT). Survivors of torture rights are at the center of situations of conflict in political and arms actors perpetuating impunity and violating human rights.
In addressing survivors of torture needs, DRI provides medical treatment, legal and temporary shelters for accommodation and reunification of survivors with their families after the grave torture and restoring the dignity of victims and survivors in South Sudan.
