Impact Story from Associação para Integridade de Crianças e Jovens em Angola (AICJA):

Widespread unawareness of this crime makes especially women and children vulnerable to human trafficking. In response, the Associação para Integridade de Crianças e Jovens em Angola (AICJA) has intensified its efforts to combat trafficking through investigations, training, and awareness campaigns that reach communities throughout the country. Their campaign, “HAVE KNOWLEDGE TO NOT BE THE NEXT VICTIM,” aims to educate the public about the tactics traffickers use and the risks people face.

In June 2024, AICJA organized a lecture for students at Colégio AP in Desvio da Barra do Dande, Bengo Province. The event focused on how traffickers identify potential victims and warned students about the various deceptive methods often employed. The lecture highlighted that traffickers may lure individuals through personal connections, fake job offers, and romantic relationships, as well as advertisements or supposed employment agencies. Attendees were advised to be wary of offers that seem too good to be true, job placements requiring advance fees, and any employer who insists on retaining identification documents or claims that a high salary can cover smuggling costs.

AICJA’s dedication to raising awareness reflects their commitment to protecting Angola’s most vulnerable populations. By fostering a better-informed society, they hope to prevent future victims and reduce human trafficking’s devastating impact on the community.
