Impact Story from the International Police Science Association:

Since 2016, the World Internal Security and Police Index (WISPI), developed by the International Police Science Association (IPSA), has been a cornerstone in assessing the effectiveness of internal security measures across 125 countries. It focuses on four core pillars: Capacity, Process, Legitimacy, and Outcomes. This structured approach provides governments, law enforcement agencies, and policymakers with practical insights for combating organized crime, strengthening public trust, and promoting international cooperation.

In 2023, WISPI’s findings underscored the urgent need for strategic improvements, especially in areas prone to transnational crime, corruption, and public distrust. For instance, nations with limited security resources often struggle to mitigate organized crime effectively. By highlighting these global disparities, WISPI encourages actionable reforms and investments that enhance both security infrastructure and law enforcement capacity, fostering safer communities worldwide.

Beyond WISPI, IPSA actively engages with the international community through training programs, certifications, and forums for knowledge exchange, creating a collaborative network of experts dedicated to advancing policing sciences. Through initiatives like IPSA’s Leadership Training Center and advisory services, IPSA empowers security personnel with the skills and resources needed to combat crime on all levels, reinforcing its commitment to global security and cooperation. This year, as we commemorate this vital international day, IPSA reaffirms its mission to promote research-based policies, share best practices, and support nations in creating a world where safety and justice are within reach for all.
