Transnational organised crime—spanning cybercrime, money laundering, and terrorism—poses a persistent and evolving threat across borders. The Privanova-led LEA Projects Cluster, consisting of over 35 EU-funded projects, plays a pivotal role in addressing these challenges through collective action. With participants ranging from investigators and researchers to policymakers, the cluster amplifies its impact by fostering collaboration across diverse fields. Law enforcement agencies (LEAs) face several challenges, including the complexity of international coordination, the rapid evolution of crime, and the limitations of existing resources.
The LEA Projects Cluster tackles these obstacles by creating a shared space for knowledge exchange, joint research, and policy advocacy. Regular workshops and meetings ensure continuous innovation and actionable solutions.
Collaboration within the cluster has led to impactful events that foster knowledge sharing. Webinar on the Role of LEAs in Combating Hybrid Threats (October 26, 2023), co-organised with EU-HYBNET, addressed disinformation, infrastructure vulnerabilities, and AI’s role in tackling hybrid threats. Another collaborative event, the International Summit on Youth and Cybercrime (March 1, 2023), hosted by CC-DRIVER and RAYUELA, brought together experts to discuss youth cybercriminality and develop preventive strategies.
The LEA Projects Cluster exemplifies the power of collaboration in combating transnational crime. By pooling resources and expertise, it ensures a stronger, more effective response, contributing to a safer future for Europe.
